Is it true that you can live cheaper in a hotel than in a nursing home?

I just saw a humorous post about living in a Holiday Inn, and how you can get cut rates for extended stays plus senior discounts/gov't discounts, etc. I wonder if anyone here has tried this. The post claimed you can do it for $59.23 per nite and this seemed so cheap that it gave me pause. When I looked up the price of staying at a HI it seemed more expensive than that.
