How can I get the job?

I recently had an interview (first one) at a supermarket and in my opinion it went great! The manager told me he would contact me either Monday or Tuesday so I could get the drug test...they never called. Looking back I think he didn't call because 1 I have no experience and 2 I'm majoring in nursing-during the interview he asked if you are majoring in nursing why are you going into retail? I told him to diversify myself...I guess he didn't want to take the risk but now I'm really interested in this job as a hostess for a restuarant and I NEED a job! (starting college in fall my mom is unemployed and I need a car) sooo should I hide my major and say im undecided? help?
