Help with college degrees and understanding?

Okay so I want to do some kind of nursing. For example, Physicians Assistant. I read online that you can be one with an Associates, Bachelors, or Masters.So I was planning to go to community college 2 years to get an associates, but can I transfer to a university to finish a bachelors (4 years total) or would I have to start over (6 years)??
