If I started with one brand of crochet hook can I switch to another in the middle of a project?

I am in the middle of crocheting an afghan using Bernat Handicrafter cotton yarn with a size H (5mm) Boye hook. I've read very good reviews about Susan Bates Silvalume hooks. I was wondering if I could switch to a Bates 5mm in the middle of this project without jeopardizing the consistency of the former Boye stitches? Do you think the size of the stitches may be a little different from one another? Has anyone ever done this? Thanks in advance:)
